goûter in the snow

Norman Wells is now blanketed in snow. It’s a blessing to those working in the comfort of the office, the heater blasting, with an expansive view of the glistening white covering the trees, the roads and our bikes parked outside. Its a curse to the pilots trying to plan flight routes that avoid icing and poor visibility. I left the office one day this week after a long, snowed-out day of flight scheduling to find a message on my phone from Jesse “let’s go for a snow adventure after work!”. The thermos is filled with hot tea, warm buns emerge from the oven, are slathered in butter and honey and bundled into a backpack. We pile on our snow gear – sorell boots, woollen hats, parkas and insulated mitts – and head off for afternoon tea, goûter, in the snow.

Note: Just before this snowfall, my good friend Katherine did a fantastic photo shoot at the local dump, capturing the final days of fall. It was freezing (just below 0˚C) but dry and snow less. I maay possibly have been the subject. And I may have braved the frigid cold and donned my wedding dress. I may even have climbed mountains of discarded tyres tires. You’ll have to check it out to know for sure.

Christina! Your blogs photography is always really good but this post was exceptional! I felt like I was right there with you both enjoying winter’s peace. Did Katherine also take these photos? I also saw her blog…and wow! Great shots and you’re such a pretty model!
